Brunswick Nines Win 3 Games at State Play In Tournament to Advance to State Championship Tournament in Oak Hill July 17th to 21st, 2010
Brunswick U9 All Stars Defeat Gorham 14-4 to Secure Seat in the State Tournament Brunswick headed into the fourth and final game of the first ever U9 Play-Iin Tournament with a 2-1 record against previously undefeated Gorham with a 3-0 record. Our Nines came out throwing the leather with a quick 1-2-3 first inning before putting their first 2 runs on the board in the bottom of the 1st. Gorham answered in the second inning with what would be their only 4 runs of the game. Brunswick continued their great defense including fantastic pitching from Zach Boyle (2 innings) and Kyle Hanson (3 innings) and a greatcatching effort from Tony Cilea efforts blocking pitches and keeping Gorham at bay. The key to the offensive dominance came from superior pitch selection and aggressive base running by Brunswick. Offensively for Brunswick, Dalton Dickey laid down two beautiful bunts to score runs and advance runners. Nick DeBoer and Michael Deveaux collected their first hits of the tournament. Brunswick will play this Saturday (July 17, 2010) in the 8-Team Cal Ripken Maine State U9 Championship Tournament in Oak Hill. The double elimination tournament runs from July 17th to 21st. Additional details on the tournament schedule and directions will be posted in the documents section of the Brunswick Cal Ripken Web Site as they come available. Good Luck Nines!
Brunswick 12's lose to Gorham and Fairfield, Out of State Tournament. An outstanding All Star season ends for Brunswicks 12's finishing 10-4 on the summer. Loses to Gorham 2-1 and Fairfield 3-0 on Sunday July 11, 2010 end season. The team won the Cal Ripken District 4 Tournament and their opening round against Berwick at States. Many of the boys were also 2007 Nine Year Old State Champions in 2007,New England Region 3rd Place Finishers in 2007, District 4 Champions in 2008 and 2010 and Bath Tournament Champions in 2008, 2009.
